Women’s Auxiliary of Washington DC
Organized in 1948, The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary (SAWA) of Washington, D.C. has been serving the region for over 60 years. SAWA is comprised of Women across the DMV who volunteer their time to serve others who are less fortunate. Over the past several years, this organization has raised funds to support The Turning Point Center for Women and Children by replacing 30-year-old flooring, purchasing bedroom furniture for all 28 units, pay for books and tools for mothers who are returning to school, and supporting their children with tools for school, clothing, diapers along with other events that bring joy to the children.
In addition to supporting Turning Point, last year, SAWA supported the newly created music department in the National Capital Area of the Potomac Division. Children from Washington, DC had the opportunity to enjoy a summer long camp where they had music and theatre classes. It was such a success, the intent is to hold and grow the camp even larger than last year.
With your continued support through your giving of your time, talent, and resources, SAWA can continue to meet the many needs of the community. William Booth said, “Some of our best men are women.” Please consider becoming one of our best men and join SAWA today. Annual membership is $50.
