Ways To Help
When you think of giving to The Salvation Army, your mind may flashback to Christmas – hearing the sound of our bells jingling and visions of those bright red buckets. While there is no doubt the annual Red Kettle Campaign remains our most recognizable way to give, there are plenty of other ways to make a big difference in the lives of the people we serve.
The Salvation Army offers opportunities for individuals and businesses to give and partner with us to do good for those in the most need.
You can make a one-time or monthly gift with cash, a check, or a credit card. We accept donations of appreciated stock or bonds, property, cars, boats, and more. We accept items for seasonal programs, such as coats, toys, hygiene items, or school supplies.
The Salvation Army will also work with you on your planned or legacy gift.
Your gift impact, no matter the amount or kind of gift, is always appreciated.

Financial Support
Donate Now or Schedule Monthly Donations
Your monetary donation stays right here in our community and assists those neighbors in need with food, shelter, clothing and so much more. When you join the Bed and Bread Club, your donation can be scheduled monthly, quarterly, or twice annually.
Planned Giving and Securities
The Salvation Army works with you and your financial advisor to design the legacy gift that’s right for your family and ensures your bequest accurately reflects any restrictions or designations you would like to make to a local unit, program, or service.

Donate Goods
Drop-off or Schedule a Pick-up
When you donate goods to The Salvation Army, those items are then sold at our Thrift Stores. The proceeds are used to fund our Adult Rehabilitation Centers, where those struggling with drugs and alcohol find help, hope, and a second chance at life.

Volunteer
Volunteering
We could not fulfill our mission without the assistance of dedicated volunteers who share their skills and time to enhance our programs. We offer one-time, short-term, and long-term opportunities for individuals and groups at locations throughout DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia.
