For more than 125 years in the National Capital Area, The Salvation Army has offered a simple solution to the suffering and isolation of poverty, addiction and abuse that exists in our society.
It is the same solution our founders, William and Catherine Booth, motivated by their Christian faith and love of God, first offered to the most vulnerable people living in London’s slums in 1865.
Offer safe space and compassionate support
Care for everyone without discrimination
Address immediate needs first
Respect the individual’s dignity
Care for the whole person
Provide long-term solutions
Last year, we were able to assist 77,232 individuals. The Salvation Army cannot accomplish its mission on its own. Since the beginning we have partnered with donors and friends to expand our ability to meet human needs. Together we can give hope and restore lives in our community.
