The Salvation Army could not fulfill its mission as effectively without the assistance of dedicated volunteers who share their skills and time to enhance our programs. We have one-time, short-term, and long-term opportunities for individuals and groups at locations throughout DC, Maryland and Northern Virginia.

Looking for a fun community volunteer shift on Friday, July 27? Join us for the WGTS Summer Concert from 5-9 PM, and help thank attendees for donating backpacks and school supplies. We will also take inventory and load the truck. Volunteers must be age 18+ to join us (or age 14+ with an accompanying adult. Get more info and register here!
Join our Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) Team and prepare for deployments of a few hours locally or up to 14 days regionally, based on your availability. Click below to create a profile and look for trainings by searching the DC and Virginia location tabs.
Wednesday, July 18 – 8:30AM-5PM at 4915 Ox Rd, Fairfax, VA. Join us for Disaster Food Services & Canteen Operations so you know how our “food trucks” operate at disaster sites. (Online Intro to EDS is a prerequisite.)
Friday, August 24 – 8:30AM-5PM at 2626 Pennsylvania Ave NW, DC. Join us for our Liaison course, learning about how Salvation Army partners and works with other disaster response organizations like FEMA and VOADs as well as our part in the “whole community” response effort after a disaster. (Online Intro to EDS is a prerequisite.)
