The Salvation Army National Capital Area Command is hosting a 5K Run & Walk on Saturday April 20, 2013 at RFK Stadium and Kingman Island. Proceeds from the event benefit Turning Point Center for Women and Children, a dynamic housing program for homeless mothers and children that includes comprehensive support for job training, education, and employment.

Pre event activities will include music, warm ups, and other entertainment beginning at 8am.
The 5K run starts at 9am and follows the Grand Prix course at RFK Stadium! A pace car will lead runners for the start of two exciting laps around the course to the cheers of friends and family. Both experienced runners and first timers will enjoy the encouragement and energy of this unique 5K event.

The walk is an enjoyable excursion through Kingsman Island and will highlight recent conservation efforts in the area. The walk is a wonderful opportunity for parents and children to spend time together having fun and learning about our community.
