Twenty-six years ago, The Salvation Army opened its doors in Montgomery County. And it has been offering help and hope to those in need ever since.

Families who live in poverty face impossible decisions: do I pay the rent or feed my children? At the Corps offices in Germantown, case managers work with families to do a needs assessment and create a plan of support. Last year alone, the Emergency Assistance program provided hundreds of people facing hunger and eviction with the help they needed to stay in their homes, put food on the table and keep the lights on. From rental and utility assistance to grocery vouchers and back-to-school supplies, the Montgomery County Corps is there when people need it most.

In addition to feeding empty stomachs, the Corps is also feeding hungry hearts. Music education, a women’s outreach group, and youth programs help to develop the potential of each individual that comes through these doors. And at the core of it all are the weekly worship services, bible study groups and religious education classes that help to meet spiritual needs and build fellowship across this unique community which so many call home.
