    About

The Salvation Army regularly adapts to meet the needs of any community. In Arlington County, where over 80% of residents seeking help are from the Hispanic community, breaking the cycle of poverty begins with speaking the same language.

For over ten years, the fluent Spanish speakers in the Arlington Corps have been offering support to struggling families from over half-a-dozen Spanish-speaking countries. Those services range from eviction prevention and utility assistance to grocery vouchers and back-to-school supplies. The success of this fellowship is reflected in the numbers that turn out for summer carnivals and holiday dinners. For these families, this really is home away from home.

For the younger population, there’s the JAM (or Jesus And Me) youth program that meets every Friday night and encourages kids to take a lifelong journey with God, through service projects, bible-based studies, arts and crafts, sports and more. Sunday school and weekly worship services also provide spiritual nourishment and guidance for all who attend.
