Monday, May 15 begins National Salvation Army Week! We have a full week of events planned to mark the occasion. Officers and staff will be out in the community all this week holding Thank You events to show our gratitude to the area’s first responders. The Salvation Army will visit several police and fire stations across the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Northern Virginia. National Salvation Army Week runs May 15-21.
Salvation Army officers and staff are serving lunch on May 15 to the Fairfax County Police Department’s West Springfield Station. Throughout the rest of the week, our plans include serving breakfast or lunch on May 17 and 19.
“National Salvation Army Week is a time for us to thank the community for their support throughout the year. We decided to reach out to local police and fire departments with Thank You events to recognize the brave men and women in our community who work to keep us safe every day,” said National Capital Area Commander Major James “Chip” Hall.
