Prince William Women Compete on Cake Wars

Two local Prince William County women competed recently on the hit TV show Cake Wars. Deborah Church and Monique Hines, who are both volunteers for The Salvation Army Prince William County Corps, appeared in the Food Network show’s episode titled “Shark Lagoon.” The episode aired on Monday, February 15th. Cake Wars features four of the country’s top bakers to compete against each other for a $10,000 prize in a cupcake baking competition.

Deborah Church is the CEO of Delicate Creations. She along with Monique Hines have sponsored a cupcake fundraiser to benefit kids and youth programs at The Salvation Army Prince William Corps. From the promotion, “Cupcakes with a Cause,” the bakery will donate a portion of proceeds to The Salvation Army.

Hines is no stranger to The Salvation Army. A few years ago, when things were not going so well, she turned to us for assistance. Her immediate need was met and Hines enrolled into the STEP program – Steps to Eliminate Poverty. The program educates participants money management including living on a tight budget. It was designed to help low income families find financial stability.

The Salvation Army Prince William Corps is located at 1483 Old Bridge Road in Woodbridge, VA, where they offer help and hope to local families and individuals in need
